*********************************

This model is setup to work with FS2002 only.

My thanks to:
David Ekert, for his FSDS crew figures.
Jerry Arzdorf, for allowing me to use his original FS5 model as a reference and starting point.
Michael Verlin, my very good friend, for all the paint jobs and the the flight dynamics. When it comes to flight dynamics, Michael is the best!

Description
Designed by Walter Extra, justly recognized for the aerobatic 300S, the 400 is a pressurized turbocharged single engine aircraft. It seats 6 and is capable of 235 knots TAS. It is unique in many ways with composite construction, advanced avionics and a liquid cooled Continental powerplant.

Installation Notes

Everything needed to operate this aircraft in FS2002 is in this package. The gauges need to be moved to the main FS2002 gauges directory. The gauge sounds need to be moved to the main FS2002 Sound directory. Everything else goes into a folder in the FS2002 Aircraft directory. There are two liveries included, one with U.S. registry, and one with German registry.

Flying the Extra 400
Because of the location of the horizontal stabilizer at the top of the vertical fin, a firm hand is needed on the yoke at rotation.
Rotate at 65 knots, retract the gear promptly. When climb has stabilized at 1000 fpm, reduce manifold pressure to about 36 inches, and reduce prop rpm to 2500. This should produce a stable climb at 1200-1300 fpm to an operating altitude of 18,000 ft. Keep an eye on fuel flow while climbing. You will need to lean the mixture progressively. At operating altitude, reduce map to 36", rpm to 2300. This will result in cruise at 180 kias.

Panel Notes

There are two panel configuration files included: one with Rob Clark's CD Player and one with the Bendix King KR87 ADF.
The default is the ADF panel. Take your pick.

The panel has developed over the past two years.
My thanks to the many simmers who have had a hand in contributing to it:

Marco Balzarotti, my friend from HJG who helped with the shading of the panel bitmap.

Ike Slack whose gauge programming transformed this project into a highly accurate rendition of the real Extra 400

Gauges from:

Bendix King EHI 40 and KR 87 ADF, Garmin GNS 430, Transponder and Audio Panel, STEC Autopilot
by Ike H. Slack of Coyote Avionics Design.
RadioCD Player by Rob Clark.
Engine Instruments by Chuck Dome.
Altimeter by HGHB, bitmaps revised by Michael Verlin
